Vietnamese citizens who need to bring or transfer foreign currencies for permanent settlement in foreign countries can contact Eximbank to proceed to transfer or bring foreign currencies on submitting these following papers

- Request for bringing and transferring foreign currencies (in Eximbank’s form)
- Photocopies of competent overseas authorities’s documents approving overseas permanent setllement or documents certifying the overseas permanent settlement.
- Photocopies of family registration book in Vietnam and passport of the person who settles permanently overseas.
- Papers certifying the origin of foreign currencies need to transfer or bring overseas (papers certifying the property sales such as notarized contract of property sales, at least 3 month-term savings books issued by Eximbank or other legal documents, etc)
- A photocopy of ID card together with the original (in case of transferring foreign currencies), or photocopy of passport together with the original version (in case of bringing foreign currencies) for presentation.
- Vietnamese citizens are allowed to transfer no more than USD$30,000/year. Each household can transfer or bring maximum USD$150,000/year. The remainder will be deposited to the bank to transfer gradually (including principal and interest arising) in the consecutive years but do not exceed the above limit.
